Yes, I've seen that. It would be a nice addition to allow you to assign a coupon to a group of products, and I would think that the categories would be an ideal vehicle for allowing you to do so. Something to think about for the future I guess.

When setting up coupons and discounts, you can specify groups for which they will work. These are all the admin groups. Is there any concept of a user class? It would be nice to target coupons at groups of users beyond just the admins.

Is there some place to access informtion how to create your own new templates from scratch? I saw the brief thing in the online doc, but it didn't go into much detail. I'd also be interested in reading about creating static pages completely separate from the storefront and instituting a custom navig...

First of all thoroughly make all your requirements clear and then find out do all these changes needs to write a separate UI or just disabling some AbleCommerce features and some re skinning work can fix it. AbleCommerce is very flexible and you can accommodate any sort of designs and layouts in it...
