Does anyone know if the IPaymentProvider interface can be used with AC Gold?

Can the IPaymentProvider interface be implemented and used with AbleCommerce GOLD? Is it essentially the same as implementing it in 7.0.3?

When multiple tax providers are configured (such as a 3rd party provider and the native AbleCommerce tax calculator) is it configurable to call one for some situations and the other the rest of the time?

I disabled the current tax provider by using the Administration -> Configure -> Taxes -> Setting menu.
