My first site as a free-lancer.

I'm starting to do some sites from scratch, rather than just modifying. Here's the first- I'm sick of look in at it by now, so tell me what I've missed. (The product images are from the customer.) We've still got to put some more info on and get payment methods set up and a few links and odds & ends...

Only a few suggestions: The light green text way down at the bottom is hard to read. If you made your images a uniform height, at the least, the the products on the category pages would line up better. It's a little hard to follow the flow. If you can't go back and do that, you might set the height ...

I don't know what I am, but I sure do keep busy! I work for my son-in-law and we had one of the first paintball sites back when the Yahoo platform was about all that was available for small businesses with no knowledge. We purchased Able about 5 years ago with the intention of switching the site ove...

I like the way you've done some of your category pages without the images- I was thinking of doing that for a client who sells water purification- how exiting would a page be with an image of a brass nut for a bunch of categories? It would look better if you got rid of the Able olive all together. I...

You can do it in an .aspx page by using some of the methods to access the database that are in the Able Customizaion guide. For example. to access the store group database, you can use objToken.StoreGroupDB.

It looks like you're cloning it pretty well. It's hard for me to read with the black bacground and the blue buttons. but that is probably what the merchant wants? To me it says go somewhere else, this is too hard to concentrate on.

The top header looks good. You need to change the other colors with it. It might be better if you raised the name, sku and price up higher (on the right of pictures) That way they don't have to scroll down so far to see the price. Or split the picutres up- use one for the main image and put the othe...

I know you must be asking more than it looks like you are asking. Are you talking about <h1>tags with dynamic content? Or where on the page do you want to add them?

Very good looking, especially the Helios. I think the Goat one would be better with different colored buttons. The header is attractive.

They might ask you if you need to run an executable to install the software, which they might not want to do. You don't have to do that- you can ftp up all the pages. and the only files Able needs are within the install directory. If you need to upgrade and they will not allow you to run the upgrade...

I don't remember what it looked like before, sorry. The different color for the visited links on the left nav was a little disorientating. I kept thinking it was a different color for the current page until I saw more than one in gray. I see you changed the center of the page tabs from the green tha...

Here's his stylesheet http://www.abacomdirect.com/css/bluegray.css It looks like he's using a background image in TH.MenuBox {font-weight:bold;color:#000; background-image:url(../images/products/topnav.gif);text-align:center;border-bottom-width:1px;border-bottom-style:solid;border-bottom-color:#000;...

I'm an idiot, I don't even see the link you are talking about in the right nav. If it isn't in the rightnav.aspx or the index.aspx, look in the wizard for the theme where you can enter your special links.

This really brings back bad memories of when I was trying to figure out the style sheet. Here's what helped me the most. Look at the style sheet you're using- bluegray.css? Make a copy of it in case you mess up. Find all the given colors, like #666, which is a gray, and put them in a graphics progra...

I think some of it might depend on your customer demographics and page load speed. The images below might cause the page to load slower (unless they are pre-loaded in your other code). If I were buying your type of product, I would probably like the images below, but with a link under the main pic t...

I would suggest moving the categories in the left nav up high enough that customers don't have to scroll down to find them. You could move the What's new to the rightnav since there isn't much there.

buffjungle, Are you talking about the ones where he shows a row of thumbnails and the main image changes? I viewed the source on his page and was able to duplicate it using that code. I didn't think he would mind, since he's give us other code. Here's what you need to do: In the line where you are s...

I doubt if a standard hoster will let you run the Able .exe for security reasons and because of their lack of familiarity with Able. I did an upgrade to a store and I had to copy everything up via ftp since they wouldn't let me run the .exe. We have our own servers, but the ISP that manages them won...

I had some items in my basket, went to basket page, and clicked the view my basket link (to see what it did), and it cleared the basket. Then when I added stuff again I got a different basket link in the same place showing # of products and cost. I tried duplicating the action and couldn't get it to...
