Continued issues with MAINTENANCE
The common theme across GOLD is severe performance issues with Maintenance from what I read here. I suggest the developers relook at managing maintenance as it continues to be a major performance issue. I suggest doing a COUNT first and check the load required and then manage it in chunks vs. one ma...

Re: Best Practice for new license keys?
The license key simply allows you to run versions per your subscription. You can continue using your existing key because it allows the version you're running. When R8 releases, which is released after your prior subscription, you will need the new key for the licensing to allow R8 to run.

Re: NEXUS: Sales report by Country / Province - MUST HAVE
Katie, One thing to keep in mind is that when you get a "love note" regarding NEXUS you don't have taxes setup for that state at that time. In my case with Michigan I have to go back from 2010 forward and get a break down of all sales in the state of MI and also by products as not all products are a...

Re: NEXUS: Sales report by Country / Province - MUST HAVE
Exactly Katie, agree on all counts. I'll check further into GOLD when I get it going hopefully with R8 and let you know if I need more. All this mess really makes running a business less and less appealing as it's so time intensive, small biz's trying to do things right is overwhelming.

Re: NEXUS: Sales report by Country / Province - MUST HAVE
Katie, What I have needed and haven't seen, keep in mind I'm not running GOLD yet so I am not totally familiar with the reports other than my preliminary review of R7, is a report that gives sales breakdown by Country/Province. I get a monthly report from Apple for in-app purchases that give a detai...

NEXUS: Sales report by Country / Province - MUST HAVE
For those that are doing IRS / sales tax correctly, you are aware of NEXUS laws. I posted the suggestion at http://ablecommerce.uservoice.com/forums/178762-ablecommerce-gold/suggestions/5673271-sales-day-by-province regarding the need for a report but I want to post here as I need to escalate how cr...

Re: Google Feed code leaking SQL connections
Jay, Odd, the URL is correct, the forum'ware isn't parsing it, I used a shortened url. The article is about ADO.NET connection pooling. The issue though is this is ADO.NET, I'm not sure NHibernate participates in this or what it uses for its pooling, if anything. I don't have experience with NHibern...

Connection pooling doesn't mean only one connection. Also read below where calling close in a finalizer is incorrect.

Re: Google Feed code leaking SQL connections
Jay,
I disagree with that and it's actually discouraged to close a connection when it's in a using block. Where are you hearing otherwise?

Overnight - memory stable, site performant, test terminated.
I'm using SQL FTS, low values for maintenance storage (anonymous, page tracking, etc), and I'm not using google feed while in development.

About 2.5-3 hours in to the test, did a check and memory is stable at around 850 MB, little processor activity, site continues to perform well, even hitting it from a second computer and site is doing great. acdev-2hrs.jpg Again, stock/new GOLD R7 no customizations, two server config web & sql, no p...

Re: TIP: App Pool High Memory Usage, intermittent site crashes
I have a GOLD R7 stock site attached to a restored/upgraded 707 database with the same content and config as http://www.nc-software.com. Re: TIP: App Pool High Memory Usage, intermittent site crashes
Jay, I followed that thread and bug report - good job. That is the type of thing that concerns me that if there is an object like that in memory it could cause an issue. As you did, it needs to be raised to developers to fix properly. If an AC GOLD site cannot run months unattended, it is a problem....

Re: TIP: App Pool High Memory Usage, intermittent site crashes
I do not agree with the above assessment or tip. It sounds like the hardware is insufficient to run the site but without specifying the details no one can comment. Setting 32 bit mode without full knowing the impact is unwise. If AC GOLD has a memory issue or instability issue it should be reported ...

Re: TIP: App Pool High Memory Usage, intermittent site crashes
Why is the memory at 800K to 1200K a concern? 64-bit apps can use more memory and that is a GOOD thing. You are forcing the store to use less memory as if you put the site into 32 bit mode you have process restrictions on the amount of memory used. Now if the site is showing signs of issues, then th...
