New Bootstrap responsive site

Postby eileen » Mon Aug 07, 2017 5:03 am

We just launched a new AbleCommerce GOLD store with a responsive Bootstrap template. We are using Wordpress on the front end (https://healthydesign.com) and AbleCommerce Gold on the back end (https://shop.healthydesign.com).

David Johnson at Ecombuilder Today (http://ecombuildertoday.com) developed the Bootstrap template foundation for us, but we still had a lot of work to do ourselves. We ported in product data and some previous customizations from an older Able GOLD store. Many of the product descriptions were complex with special layouts, so all the coding had to be converted to Bootstrap. Some coding changes could be applied en masse, but we still had to review each product page to tweak the layouts. The Bootstrap learning curve was manageable (we like it!) but it still took time to go through each product page one-at-a-time.

The primary domain is Wordpress. Ablecommerce operates under a subdomain. Therefore, our Google feed is under the shop domain. According to Google this shouldn't affect rankings, but I'm beginning to think it does.

As you well know, these projects are always a work-in-progress. We've still got a lot to do.

Let us know what you think!

Hi!

I think you need to take a look on the part of you site that is done with Wordpress. For example make images more accurate in size (now its very big and scaled down by the browser).
Enable caching and compression is another easy thing you can do make Google to like your site more(speed is everything).

Here is a great tool to use to get some insight and tips om things you can fix to improve speed and other things:
