Hi All,
We are one of your customer we bought AbleCommerce 7.0 and our first milestone is to make a turkish version of it.
I have a few questions, I'll be glad if you can make a comment of them.
Please note that we're not trying to make it multilanguage enabled since it is said that it will be multilanguage enabled in the future, we're just trying to translate and make a turkish version of it.
1) After the purchase we downloaded acm7_b8272 and acm7_b8272dev. What is the difference between them, which version should we use to make translation development?
2) We found many files that needs to be translated in the sourcebase. Should we also check the database? are there any texts that needs to be translated in the database of the default application?
3) How can we prevent our work to lost when new version is out? That is the most important question?
4) Which way do you advise us to make the translation work? Should we prepare the new versions of the controls to custom folder? or just change the texts inside the default one?
It's important to get your advise before we start working on it, we don't want to throw our efforts away.

Hello,
Yes, I'd already notified development to get a thoughtful reply to you. We want to answer this correctly as it's important. Someone will reply.
Bumping of posts is never good as it HIDES your post from the unanswered posts link, we use to find issues which are yet to be resolved.
Your second post answered the first. So it's no longer an unanswered post.

Hi,
I don't think a simple question like "what is the difference between the default zip file and dev version" needs any feedback from development team, it is the simple question of the download page which is avaliable right after the purchase of the software. Also I don't care about the way you follow "unanswered questions" which I think you should have better approach than the "reply count" in the forum. Normally I expect that the simple answers are replied and a kind message that says others needs a feedback from development.
Anyway, I'll be looking forward for the answers.
Regards
Gökhan

Email templates are stored within the database. Some templates are created by default if you include the sample data - these will be in English.gokhankaya wrote:2) We found many files that needs to be translated in the sourcebase. If you prepare new versions of the "ConLib" controls in the Custom folder, then they will not be overwritten by any upgrades.gokhankaya wrote:3) How can we prevent our work to lost when new version is out? That is the most important question?

This will not be the case for the Admin files. The best solution I can suggest is to maintain a copy of the original file set that you convert from. As we release updates, use a directory compare tool like WinDiff to discover any changes we make to admin scripts and replicate them to the language specific version.
Cheers,
Logan
