My google feed isn't uploading

Post by AbleMods » Tue Dec 04, 2007 5:36 am

I *thought* my feed was working correctly, and I had told Don the same in a previous post.

But after double-checking everything this morning, my products aren't up on google. I fired off the AC7 create, compress and upload process and AC7 said everything successful.

While I fired it off I was watching the google FTP upload folder to see the file hit their server. It never did - AC7 is telling me the upload was successful when it wasn't.

I can manually FTP the file up and google shows it to me right away.

There a log file somewhere we can check for any problems?

Log files are in App_Data/Logs folder.

If the feed reported successful upload then I don't think there will be anything in the log.
One possibility ... may be the file is getting uploaded to a wrong place?

I'll check the logs. There's no way to mess up the destination unless you put the wrong FTP site name in the feed setup screen, so I don't think it's going to the wrong place.

Might be a google thing somehow too - I'll try some more testing this week and see if I can narrow it down.

We have trouble with our Google feeds uploading and Google base recommends that you upload it manually unless it is over x mb so that there won't be any problems.

Yeah, I did a manual upload and it worked perfectly first time. Took Google a few hours to snag it from their FTP server and process it, but everything looks good on their end now.

Sure would be nice to have AC7 auto-push the file on a schedule - perhaps in v7.1

FTP Host : "ftp://uploads.google.com"
Username: ****
Password:****

all set correctly and we had errors, however we got the file it created and manually updated the data feed with success, so i think this is another bug Able should look into

I didn't use the "ftp://" part on my setup.

Is that required?

I tried both with the same resulting in errors, however it worked from command prompt.... either way the best way to do this for now is to creat the file and fetch it from the admin/marketing/feeds/google........ we got all our products up on google and well see how it turns out =) fingers crossed the we just opened the flood gates

Don :P

PS we still dont have google checkout working..... =(

Heh I hear ya - did the same thing myself yesterday.

I'll look through my log files and see if I notice anything unusual.

Hi - We did manage a manual feed of the google products that is good for 31 days, but the AC Google Feed does not work. The Manual Feed is our work around for the Holidays.

This feature of AC 7 needs some attention as it is a key and very important feature as Google has 55+ % of the Search Market and best of all, this feature is FREE.

My log files didn't show anything pertaining to google.

Whatever AC7 thinks it is doing, it's not succeeding in doing the FTP upload. That much I'm certain of.

I'm good for 30 days too - hopefully it'll be fixed by then. At least we have a manual workaround until resolution.

Callback Problem with Google and PayPal etcetera

Post by DonAshby » Wed Dec 05, 2007 8:50 am

Joe -
Thanks for letting us know you see the same results as we are seeing with the callback problem.

I think that this problem may be affecting all our problems with regard to PayPal, Google Feed, and Google Analytics. It may be a Universal Problem.

Logan -
Can you tell us if this callback feature is new for AC7 or if you had it working on AC 5.5 too. I think this is important to get into Final as it will affect all your customers that use AC 7 to sell products.

Thank you, Don :?

Can I get more details. I did not see any mention from anyone else regarding GoogleCheckout callback problem. I might be missing some post...

Also can anybody having this problem post the details from GoogleCheckout Integration center?

Sohaib,

This topic is about the Google Feed, not checkout.

There are no detailed messages. We both have populated the Google Feed screen with the values required. We tell it to compress and upload.

AC7 says onscreen the compress and upload were successful, but the FTP site for upload never shows a file received/uploaded. The upload from AC7 is not working.

We're doing a manual FTP upload now to get by until it's fixed.

There were no errors logged in my app.log file.

I think Don was saying it as a summary that all google functionality is having a problem.

I haven't confirmed his specific callback issue because I don't have google checkout setup yet. It think it was the way he phrased it that made it a little misleading. I started setting it up, but I can't test it until the test money from google hits my account and they approve my setup.

I thought I saw a separate post he made for the google checkout issue, but I'm not finding it right now.

Google Checkout + PayPal + Google Feed - not working

Post by DonAshby » Wed Dec 05, 2007 10:19 am

Hi
I have posted a lot of notices on this in various places - you can probably sort on my name.

Here is the complete picture:

Google Feed does not work
Google Checkout does not work
PayPal does not work

All of these features of your platform need to communicate back and forth.

The communication back and forth ( between AC7 and Google OR PayPal ) does not work - and it needs to work for these features to work - you should be able to replicate the problem here.

I guess I can open a case for this. This needs to be fixed - especially Google Checkout and Pay Pal. I believe you should fix it before Final is released as it is such a major part of the platform.

Thanks Don

Hello Don,

Implementation of these features is not related to each other. So they are all actually separate issues and don't affect each other.

We were able to reproduce the PayPal issue and Logan is therefore working on it full time. He has already fixed it but it is currently under QA.

About GoogleCheckout: It could not be reproduced. The error you are reporting is that GoogleCheckout is rejecting the SSL certificate of your server. I am pretty sure that this has nothing to do with AC7 code but if you can post more details from Google Integration center messages it might be helpful in detecting the real problem.

About Google Feed: There might be a problem in FTP upload (most probably there is ... as more than one users have reported this). This issue is on my list of things to check next. Because right now a work around exists, i.e; manually uploading feed data, this issue has not got as much attention as some other issues.

Thanks,
Sohaib

Hi
That sounds good. I will find more info on Google Checkout but FYI - the messages and info we get from them is largely the same. And we believe our SSL is Fine. We have triple checked this - it is from Verisign and it is installed and working and locking etc.

One thing maybe - you have not answered our question about folders.

We have http://www.ourstore.com/gis/Checkout...

Does the /gis or no /gis matter?

You have /ac7 in your example... when we signed up in your dashboard for the SSL ( activated it) we put http://www.ourstore.com as our URL and we put http://www.ourstore.com/gis as the SSL. But our developer says we need the /gis or we might break it ???

We will send more on Google Checkout soon - but we really suspect that it is not working for anyone ...

Thanks, Don

Normally it makes no difference which subdirectory or sub path is being accessed. The SSL is setup on the main domain. All sub paths are accessed via the same SSL... unless may be there are some special settings.
when we signed up in your dashboard for the SSL ( activated it) we put http://www.ourstore.com as our URL and we put http://www.ourstore.com/gis as the SSL. But our developer says we need the /gis or we might break it ???
I am sorry but I could not understand what you are talking about. In AC7 you only Activate or Deactivate the SSL. You do not provide any domain details. AC does not care where on what sub-path the store is actually deployed. It may be on the root it may be on a sub-path. Doesn't make a difference as far as AC is concerned. These deployment settings you may control from your web server mappings. The only thing you need to do is to make sure that whatever url is mapped to the store it is specified correctly in store configuration. I am sure this is correct in your case otherwise your store could not be working at all.

As far as deploying the SSL certificate in your web server is concerned, I don't think you need to specify any sub paths with the domain name. You only specify the domain name for which you have obtained the SSL certificate from CA.
