Good Day All!
It appears that when a category is selected, it defaults to sorting product in A-Z order, which bypasses the physical sort selected in the Admin, and the products are mixed and have no relation to each other. The "Sort by:" is a great feature, especially by manufacturer, but initial view should be the order in the system.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I 100% agree with you. This has been reported before and I think (hope) that this will be fixed in the upcoming version.
Personally I'd also like to see a sort option to sort by Reviews/Rating. An awful lot of stores do this by default.

We add products in batches of hundreds that populate several different categories. Going back to each category one at a time to perform a manual sort in the admin panel is beyond painful - it is a show stopper. The only thing that saved us on AC55 was jmestep providing code that sorted the products in the category alphabetically, the same way AC7 is coded today.
