Admin account keeps saying: "This account has been lock

Post by IndyTwoStep » Wed Feb 13, 2008 11:40 am

Trying to login under my admin account, keeps saying:
"This account has been locked for 10 minutes."

Tried 3 different times now, all over 1 hour apart. Still says the same thing.

Seems like this is going to be a big problem, it is my only administrator account right now.

The answer will be interesting- I did the same thing because I have so many different passwords. I had to access the database directly to fix it. I think this is what I did.
In the table ac_Users, change IsLockedOut to False, LastLockedOutDate to something in the past.

Hello,

1. once you get down to 1 try remaining...it's time to use the lost password function.

2. once you get logged in again, create a new admin user that you never use as a back door.

3. Right after installation be sure to setup your email server, so that number 1 above is available as an option.
Thanks for your support

The other possibility is someone is trying to hack your admin account.

To check on that, log in as a super user and go to Configure -> Security -> Audit Log. Login failures for a user will be listed and the IP that attempted is shown.

It took longer for me also, so I had to hack the database because it is a test install and I didn't have email set up.

This method has not been rigorously tried by any means and I have not tried to track down the root cause but...

Try going to the http://www.yourwebsite.com/Admin and log in after 10 minutes. I don't know why this works but it does. I just purposely logged myself out, cleared all the cache and sure enough, I can't get in after about 20 minutes. Waited for "awhile" (scientific term) and went into the /admin login and was able to get through. What is interesting is if I don't clear my cache, I can log in using the home page after 10 minutes no problem. It might have something to do with the cookie as well.

I ran into this problem when I first signed up. I kept going to the main http://www.mywebsite.com homepage to log in and it kept telling me that I've been logged out for 10 minutes although it had been after 10 minutes and then even after hours. I finally sent in for a ticket and the response was to create another superuser account as a back door. This is great except I don't use it much so I forget that password too.

Now the advice to use the "forgot password" when you are down to 1 try is sound but sometimes we think we might just lucky and end up failing. We've all been there...

I'm now having this exact same issue. Is there a different work around/bug fix for this?

I think Logan posted to use http://lwww.xxx.com/install/resetadmin.aspx but that has never worked for me. It says Admin recovery is not enabled, but I can't find where to enable it. Also, Able tells us to delete the install folder so the file might not even be there.

I ended up logging in with a different admin account already on the system. I then went and changed the password to the account. After 10 more minutes. I was able to login with the other account.
