Using a % difference under options

Post by solgraphix » Thu Apr 10, 2008 9:25 pm

Im managing options for business cards for resale....I want to specify an option for turnaround times. Super Saver would be nothing added to the base price, but if the shopper selected Standard as the turnaround it would add say 15% ... if they selected RUSH it would add say 40% ... when i type in 15% or 40% in the Price Mod...it just defaults back to nothing...if i type in 5.00 it will add $5.00 to the base price...i like the cleanness of using options and not kits...is there something im missing or can it just not be done? :(

you can not specify the Price mod in percent. It will always be a fixed value. If you try to add something like "15%" it will be treated as invalid value. Why not you pre-calculate and add the percent value as fixed value, for example:

if a product base price is 60. and for Option 1 if you want the base price being added by 15%, then the price mod value will be 9. For Option 2 if you want the base price added by 40% then the price mode value for 2nd option can be specified as 24.

because i have 1000's of products and product options, it wouldnt work. for instance just for business cards, you have 20 different prices (qty ranges of 1,000 to 100,000) using 15% for 1,000 would be very different rush fee for 100,000. so i can not use a fixed value :( guess i have to use kits on this one :(

Well, I will discuss this with senior team mates, and hopefully we will put it as a feature request.

This would be a GREAT feature!

I too use the FedEx model but since my product line is much smaller and with the benefit of a fresh start, I created a different SKU for each day turn around and have all the variants around that SKU. Not a good idea for thousands of products. Ouch.
