Selecting Gateway for Payment Methods
I'm trying to select a gateway for payment methods but one is not available (see attached). I do have a Google Checkout gateway setup.

You need to add a gateway, like Authorize net or whoever you use. Click on the link in your image that says Edit Gateways.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a Google Gateway setup. Perhaps there is something wrong with how that is setup. Below is a screenshot of that gateway (blackout to protect the innocent)
. I don't see anything that might make it invalid... I've tried to change the Debug Mode and Gateway Environment without success and it still does not show in the drop-down list for any of the payment methods.

Re: Selecting Gateway for Payment Methods
Hello,
Google checkout doesn't work that way, there is a google checkout button on the basket page and below the mini-basket, both of which bypass the normal checkout procedure. Google checkout skips all the steps in the AbleCommerce checkout including the final checkout page, which contains the drop down list of payment methods you're referring to.I've tried to change the Debug Mode and Gateway Environment without success and it still does not show in the drop-down list for any of the payment methods.

Okay, then that makes sense... I've done some reading but I'm somewhat uninformed. Is Google Checkout supposed to be a supplemental checkout method? I was under the impression that Google Checkout was all we needed. Do we need to enable one of the other gateways or can one rely only on Google Checkout?... What is the typical installation? Thanks as I'm learning this system.

Re: Selecting Gateway for Payment Methods
Hello Bruce,
Some people use Google as an additional payment method along with paypal, but primarily use a normal payment gateway, where the AbleCommerce software collects the credit card information and submits it to the gateway. e.g. authorize.net. We did do up a minor customization just recently where someone only wanted to use google checkout, though I'd recommend a standard gateway if you're only offering a single payment method. Paypal and google can increase sales as customers that might not give you their CC number, might proceed with the sale with paypal or google as an available option.
If you need a merchant account and a payment gateway, you can sign up for free via the following link:
https://www.e-onlinedata.com/ablecommerce
Free Authorize.Net Setup (by following the above link, normally 70 bucks)
2.25% Discount Rate
$0.30 Per Network Comm. Fee
$10 Per Month Statement Fee
$15 Per Month Gateway Fee
