Joys of Google Checkout

Post by AbleMods » Wed Oct 15, 2008 3:17 pm

Hey, want to create some REALLY annoying continuous emails?

Go into your Google Checkout account and send an invoice to a customer.

GC then spends the rest of it's life trying to send that invoice info back down to AC7, however AC7 won't accept it because the order doesn't exist.

Yet there's no way in the Integration Console in GC to tell it to quit sending the stupid order.

...won't be using THAT feature again any time soon

GC will repeatedly try to retransmit failed API transmissions for 14 days. Then they just stop.

The repeat frequency decreases as you draw closer to the 14-day mark. Guess they figure you are probably just ignoring the emails by then

4-6 in the first few hours.

then once every 4-6 hours for 7 days.

Then about 1 a day.

I wouldn't mind it so much, but you just can't tell from the email if the error is because of the manual invoice you sent or if something else is wrong. So you wind up checking your integration console every day just to be sure

I would suggest putting a default shipping rate in your Google Checkout setup in AC, then if Google Checkout isn't able to get the shipping rates within the three second time limit, it pulls that rate. Google Checkout does have its quirks, but at the same time, AC 7.0 doesn't use the full level 2 API integration of Google Checkout. Hopefully AC 7.2 will use more of those features.

Hey Joe,

I know this post is a year old, but did you ever figure out how to stop GC from spamming you? I manually made an invoice in GC for a customer, and now it spams me every day about that one order, which doesn't exist in AC7. Is there a way in AC7 to manually generate an order with the order number that you want and mark it as paid, shipped, etc? Thanks!

GC console has an option to export order data as CSV, you can try to export orders and then import them into AbleCommerce via using DataPort. DataPort do have ability to map custom CSV fields so you can create some custom CSV import template to import data from GC exported file.

No, I never figured out a way to eliminate those messages. Eventually they go away, but I think it takes like 14 days ugh.
