Editing orders

Does anyone know why that when you edit an order it doesn't affect inventory amounts?

Inventory is updated when order is shipped. When editing the order items , check the inventory after shipping the items. Make sure that you have inventory tracking enabled for that product and in store settings.

I did check the inventory after shipping the item as well and it still does not change the amounts. Inventory tracking is enabled as well. Inventory management is enabled as well.

When the original order is placed and completed, that appears to the be only time the inventory level is affected. Anything done after that, such as deleting the item or changing the quantity, has no effect on inventory amount.

When adding item to some order that is shipped, first you need to create a new shipment and then add new item to that shipment. Now ship that new shipment and check its inventory.

I edited the order before shipping it and it didn't change the amount.

I edited the order before shipping it, then after shipping I checked the inventory report and its showing the correct inventory amount.

We have tested this over and over. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. We have to do changes on orders very frequently and its playing havoc with our inventory count. We just need to know a proper procedure to make sure it works everytime. We have not done the latest update because the one we just did a few months ago was a major , major headache. If something is int he new update let me know and we will attempt to do the update.
