Weird issue with Authorize.net

Post by heinscott » Mon Feb 16, 2009 8:31 am

We have our Authorize.net account set up to send us an alert email whenever we have a billing and shipping address that do not match each other. Lately, we have noticed that some of the addresses that are flagged on the Authorize.net side appear to be correct on the Able side, while for whatever reason, the shipping information is not being sent at all to authorize on these particular orders. Just a blank shipping address is recorded. This problem seems to be independant of shipping cost or method selected, so, I'm not sure what exactly is going on here.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Scott

You using their Fraud Detection Suite to get those email alerts?

I haven't set up that particular notification - I just watch the AVS response on the order itself.

I haven't noticed any of my email merchant receipts missing the shipping address though. If it would help, I could set up the same alerts you're using in my ANet account and see if I get the same problem.

Hey Joe...
Yes, we use the Fraud detection with authorize .net to generate emails to us. We are using the alert that fires whenever there is a shipping/billing mismatch. If you wanted to set that particular notification up on your account, it would definitely be much appreciated. I'm really not sure how often this occurs, because we always go through the orders manually to check for this condition. Only recently we've begun having the system change order statuses based on certain criteria, which is when we noticed that we were getting more adresses mismatches from Authorize that were occuring on the Able side.
I appreciate your help, Joe.
Let me know if you come up with anything!

I'm curious to know if you are using a single page checkout when you are seeing the issue.

We are currently working on switching our current shopping cart soultion over to AbleCommerce, but our current cart S****F**** 6.8 also exhibits the same issue you describe.
We are setup with a single page checkout where the customer doesn't have to add the shipping address if it is the same as the billing address. This works fine within SF6..and the billing address is properly duplicated to shipping address on the orders...but as the information is not physically entered into the shipping address form, it does not forward the information to Authorize.net. and we get the same issue with Fraud Detection.

As 95% of our orders were using the same address for billing and shipping...and we also check the AVS...we have disabled that fraud detection option to greatly reduce the amount of false positives.

Scott I've activated it on my account - gimme a few days to see some orders run through it. Not sure how much this'll help but two geeks are always better than one :)

Able has just the one-page-checkout setup. Visually it appears as multiple pages via AJAX magic, and there are several seperate user controls driving the various payment methods that combine to integrate with it. However the checkout "page" itself is indeed a single user control.

This was promptly pointed out to me when I posed the question of a multi-page checkout being named "one" page checkout :P

Got one 8)

But it was supposed to fire the trigger - it was an order for an unshippable good so the AC7 order doesn't have any shipping address at all.

Otherwise, nada so far.

Sorry Scott, so far every notification from ANet has been accurately reflecting the billing/shipping mismatches. No false positives yet :(

Yeah, my build is not as advanced as yours. Could be the issue.
I'm just scared to go through the update process quite yet...

I know the feeling. Solunar has a lot of mods.

But it's all part of doing business online. 7.0.2 has a lot of differences compared to the first build/release of AC7 Final. I'm just itching to get on 7.0.2 though - it updates GoogleCheckout now when you ship or cancel an AC7 order :D
