I have some orders that have been paid for and shipped, but status says Shipment Pending. Why is this?

Status depends on your triggers in the Admin - Configure - Order Statuses menu.
Let's say your order is paid, you set a new status "Order Paid" to trigger off Triggers: Payment Authorized, Payment Captured.
When the order has a payment Authorized the trigger will change the status of the order to "Order Paid"
Same with the other triggers, "Order Shipped" "Shipment Shipped" The status of the order itself is named by the Status Event's name.
