Creating and organizing subcategories

Post by ZLA » Wed May 06, 2009 9:12 am

I'm sure this is simple and I think I figured it out once before but now I can't.

If I've created several categories that are all at the same level, how can I move them around so some of them become sub-categories of one or more of the other categories?

Category can have only single parent, you can not have multiple parents for a category.

Sorry, I didn't explain well. I just want to know how to change the parent of a category. For example If I have Children, Boys and Girls all at the same level, how do I move Boys and Girls under Children? That is,

from

Children
Boys
Girls

to

Children
...Boys
...Girls

Thanks.

In catalog if you see there are some icons against each category and product name. Locate the icon with green color having with X symbol. When you hover your mouse on it you will see tool tip move. So click move icon and then select destination category and that's it.

I figured out my problem. When you first click on category, you get the list of top level categories which you can then move using the move icon.

But if you then click on a category, you might only see the items in that category. Then move applies to the item, not the category.

This time, I noticed the upper right icon that takes you to its parent category. That's what I was missing.

Thanks again.
