Category Thumbnail Sizes

For products, I can define three different image sizes: icon, thumbnail and standard.
For a category, I can specify a thumbnail image but no size information.

Do the category thumbnails use the same thumbnail size specified for product thumbnails or is it specified somewhere else?

If I need it to be different from the product thumbnail size, how would I do that?

You can find image sizes under Administration > Website > Logo and Images. So when uploading images for category if you want to use standarad sizes you already defined then you can use Standard image sizes option. If you want the image with some different size then you can just upload it without resizing. Finally if you want to enforce your custom size then you can put it in style.css udner .Thumbnail class.

Thanks Mazhar. Can you tell me what pages display category (thumbnail) images as opposed to product (thumbnail) images?

Check the category display pages. Category Details and Category page with category data etc. Try by changing category display pages under Administration > Website > Themes and Display Pages

I tried it out and couldn't see any difference. All of the category pages display product items with their corresponding product thumbnails.

How do I configure things so I can see a grid of categories along with the category image? WilI need to create my own scriptlet?

First of all you need to edit category and select some thumbnail image for that after that you need to adjust its display page. As you said that you haven't found correct display so it seems that you have overridden some display page at category level. So edit desired category page from bottom edit option and then change its category display page.

The page I'm looking at is CategoryGrid2.aspx. But I think I was only changing the default category page under Administration > Website > Themes and Display Pages. I'll try changing the scriptlet from Edit Page as well. That's probably what I was doing wrong. Thanks for the info.

Yes page level scriptlet changes override the general settings for category and product display pages.

I finally got it. I didn't have the home page set to use Category Details for the content. Plus, I'm still getting used to asset management. I would upload the image and pick it but I keep forgetting to hit save on the edit category page. Thank you for being patient.
