Customizing Admin

Hey all,
I haven't done much with Able since version 5.5, and we're finally getting around to overhauling and upgrading. One of the reasons it's taken this long is that we'd previously farmed out some customizations that made upgrading fairly difficult. It looks like, at least on the front end, the new architecture is much better for being able to customize without affecting core functionality. Yay!

Of course, some of the customizations we need are on the back end. Is there any protocol for how best to do that in 7.0 such that customizations won't get wacked on the next upgrade?

In particular, we need to upload assets that aren't images. (It looks like this may be coming in a future release...) I know we want the search by sku back for the backend catalog search, as well. Thoughts on approach?

Read our WIKI from here http://wiki.ablecommerce.com/ It contains many topics that will help you understand and customize your AbleCommerce 7 stores. Regarding your SKU based search requirement in back end catalog module this is been fixed in 7.0.3. Have a look at following bug report
http://bugs.ablecommerce.com/show_bug.cgi?id=7862

There is also a workaround for 7.0.0 regarding search by SKU is available here

Weird - I see that yes, you can search by sku from the header search. But, it doesn't work from catalog->search. Seems like it should work from the catalog search, no?

I had seen the wiki, and I've been perusing stuff over there. Thanks.
