Hello,
I've created Product Variant records that are configured similar to this.
1 Case of Filters = $3, Weight = 5
2 Cases of Filters = $4.50 Weight = 10
The Product (STUB) Record has the Height / Width / Length configured as 2 X 4 X 6.
The issue I have is I don't know how to configure the H/W/D for the variant records. The system recognizes the 1 Case (Any number of quantities) correctly because of the product record specifications however the system does not realize there are 2 Cases when ordering the 2 Cases item. So if multiple quantities are selected, say 3, I believe it's thinking 3 Cases were purchased at weight of 15 however in reality 6 cases where purchased with a weight of 60 however the H/L/D are not computed correctly.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how I could configure these product variants to recognize the H/L/D correctly?
Thank you in advance.
Jeff

Re: Height / Width / Length and Product Variants
Hi Jeff,
As far as I'm aware, variants don't allow modification of the product dimensions....only weight.
Instead of using a variant to extend a discounted price to the customer, consider using a "Volume Discount".
You could specify 1 case at $3.00 each & 2 or more cases at $2.25 each. With this method, the shipping calculator is able to properly figure out the total dimensions and weight.
While this might be a solution for the example you've given, I for one would love to see variants support modified or override dimensions as well. I sell some products where "size" is a variant....this affects the dimensions and weights of the product, so I've had to just forego the auto-calculations by the shipping system and manually adjust shipping costs for customers.
Good luck,

Thank you JeffR for taking the time to give me a better understanding of what I'm up against. I'll be making a feature request as this is a priority for my client.
Thanks.
