Product dependencies not working (?)

I have products that have several options (size / mat color / frame color) and have set certain variants to not available (i.e. full 5x7 with frame cannot have mat).
The order is allowed (not rejected) until viewing cart ("...not available"). Is this the way it works or can something come up ("this combination not available") or options greyed out on select options page?

Hello Crutch,

Confirm you have option inventory on. Then when you're selecting the options, it will filter the option choices based on available/not-available. Also confirm you're using the 7.0.4 version as this was improved in our latest release.

If you're using 7.0.4, you don't have to have inventory on. You just uncheck the unavailable combinations in the variant manager and they won't show up in the dropdowns.

Looks like I have options inventory on.
I'm testing with the 30 day trial. It looks like I have 7.0.3 Can I update to 7.0.4 for trial.
