Hi,
I've read a few of the earlier posts on this topic, but I still think this is a bug:
We're using Google Apps Premier Edition to run our mail boxes & mailing lists. So, for example user1@example.com, user2@example.com are real users and sales@example.com is a Group consisting of the two users.
I want to set up Administration > Configure > Email > Settings with the Default "From" Address of sales@example.com, but I have to utilize a real SSL/authenticated SMTP username/password with SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com (ex SMTP Username: user1@example.com / SMTP Password: ****)
When email is sent from AC, I would expect it to say it comes from "sales@example.com"
however it says it comes from "user1@example.com"
Is there a way to pass the Default "from" Address instead of the SMTP Username ?
TIA for your suggestions.

Re: SMTP Settings & Google
This Email sending is working in back end code I don't think so that there is any quick trick to achieve what you are looking for.

Re: SMTP Settings & Google
Ok, thank you for your post. I was hoping for a quick fix as you said.
The 'easiest' workaround would be to spend another $50 a year to purchase a user account for "sales@example.com" with Google Apps.
