Hi,
Does anyone know, or have experience with, hosting AC 7.0.4 on a cloud environment (and particularly Rackspace Cloud Sites)?
Will it work? Are there any issues to be aware of?
Thanks,
Tony
Will AC 7.0.4 work on a Cloud hosting environment?

Hi,
could an AC developer get back to me on this?
Thanks.

Hello,
We did some evaluation of the Rackspace Cloud Sites more than an year ago just to check the architectural implementation from hosting perspective (at that time the Rackspace Cloud Sites
was called Mosso). We have not tested any AbleCommerce versions specifically (we tested a custom built asp.net app. running in a asp.net Full Trust and using mssql 2005 db instance).
Our application worked fine and I do not see any reasons why an AbleCommerce 7.x site should not work.
Things to be aware of:
- $149.00/mo account fee comes with 100,000 machine cycles included. There is no official technical explanation on how machine cycles get calculated and do you need to pay extra per month
based on your current site load.
- there is an extra $20/mo charge for SSL certificate on top of the ssl certificate that you have to purchase
- no access to any of the IIS and application pool settings
- all mssql databases are being hosted on a shared mssql server and the mssql server may become a performance bottleneck at some point.
Please feel free to PM me if you have any specific hosting technical questions.

Hello,
We've seen AbleCommerce installed to Mosso, but the customer was quite savvy and did some changes to get it to work. I think it was an issue with SSL hand off, if I remember correctly.
