Help!! I can't log back in to my closed store

Post by aaj » Sat Oct 02, 2010 12:56 pm

Hi

In the past I have been able to close my store (under maintenance) and whenever I logged on to xx.xx.xx.xx/admin I was challenged for my password and could log back in the config pages (as you would expect).

I'm not sure what has happened this time, but whenever I open the link to the admin page I get the message the store is closed, but I don't get any options to logon so I can reopen it.

It was working OK earlier, any ideas... can I log back in in any other way??

thanks

Andy

Do you have direct access to the SQL database?

You may have to reset the flag manually. Open the ac_StoreSettings table of your store database in SQL Studio Express Management and find the StoreFrontClosed setting. Change it's value to 0 and save the change. Then try it again.

It sounds like you selected the setting "Closed for Everyone" instead of "Closed for Non-Admin Users".

Are you logging in as one of the store Super-User accounts? Perhaps a Super-User account can still authenticate your site.

Hi Joe

Thanks for the replies.

It is possible that I closed the site for everyone, (but not on purpose). If I did, its still a bit surpising that I'm not able to logon without resetting the the database, thats probably a bit above my level of expertise...

I will raise a trouble ticket to see if the guys can take a look for me.

thanks again

Andy

I thought I'd post this as it may be of help to someone else in the future.

While testing the store I had the disclaimer page active. When I closed the store in maintenance, I left the disclaimer live.

What seems to happen is that I go directly to the logon page, but as the disclaimer is active, behind the scenes, I got forwarded to the disclaimer page. As the store is also closed, before I get to the disclaimer page I get forwarded to the 'store is closed', and hence could never actually get to the logon page.

The guys at tech support found the issue and sorted it out for me, but the information might be of use to others.

In summary, if you close your store, take off the disclaimer page.

Awesome job Andy - I never thought about the disclaimer page as it's rarely used.

Hopefully Able will make a bug report for it - obviously that behavior does not make for a fun storefront experience :P
