Windows Server 2008 R2 and AC 7.0.3

Post by WylieE » Fri Sep 25, 2009 11:25 am

Hello all,

I've been doing some digging through the site but haven't found a conclusive answer.

We are getting ready to buy a replacement for our web server. We currently run Server 2003 but are wondering if we would see any performance/stability benefits if we moved to 2008 R2. This would be a clean install and running only AC 7.0.3. Our SQL server is running 2003, btw.

I've seen some notes regarding IIS7 pipelining, but am unclear if we would need to make any mods for IIS7.5.

Anyone???

Out of the box AbleCommerce 7.0.3 package works with IIS7 without any modification.

We rolled over to our new server this past weekend and I'm seeing a host of error messages I've never seen before.

Code: Select all

11/7/2009 7:43:46 PM	Error	Error in email list maintenance	Thread was being aborted.
11/7/2009 7:43:46 PM	Error	Error in subscription maintenance	Thread was being aborted.
11/7/2009 7:43:46 PM	Error	Error updating currency exchange rates	Thread was being aborted.
11/7/2009 7:43:46 PM	Error	Error in anonymous checkout maintenance	Thread was being aborted.
11/7/2009 7:43:46 PM	Error	Error in payment account data maintenance	Thread was being aborted.
11/7/2009 7:43:46 PM	Error	Error in page tracking log maintenance	Thread was being aborted.
11/7/2009 7:43:46 PM	Error	Error in user maintenance	Thread was being aborted.
Off the top of my head, I'm guessing permissions somewhere, but I don't know where to check. Has anyone else encountered this? This is far different from anything we've seen in the past.

Did you find out what the issue was with this? Database user permission? If so can you tell me what the permissions need to be set to?

Hi Eric,

To get detailed asp.net exception info related to the above messages check your server Application Event Log. You can send me the exact exception message from the AppEventLog, so I could take
look. Win2008R2 has some additional security settings set by default which may cause the issue.

The error messages disappeared a short time after posting my last note. Our webguy claims no changes and our host claims no changes were made either. Either way, they went away. (Not crazy about not knowing why though.)

We own our server, and have it on the same, Windows Server 2008 R2 and use AC 7.0.4
Just a weird 1-time occurrence for me also.

Or so I thought, still happening. I am thinking it has something to do with user database permissions.
