7.0.0 License Key problem

Post by aaron.foote » Thu Mar 04, 2010 8:05 pm

we have several sites using ac 7.0.0
When setting up one today the license key will not work.
We receive the following.

There is something wrong with your AbleCommerce license key.

The error message is:

The AbleCommerce license is registered for d:\inetpub\wwwroot\stage.xxxxxxx.com.au\, but your application is installed at d:\inetpub\wwwroot\stage.xxxxxxx.com.au\\. Please update your license file or move the installation.

To learn more about license keys and how to update, click here: AbleCommerce License Help (new window)

To update your key now, click here: Update Key

We have never had this issue before (aprox 7 sites)

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Aaron,

The key was previously installed and the installation path was recorded. OR This site has been moved? You'll need to request a new key by logging into your order and at the bottom of the order page is the key request form.

Hi Mike.

Unfortuantly not. Today was the first time we have tried to use this key.
the licensing page under myaccount (https://www.ablecommerce.com/members/myaccount.aspx) shows that this key was "registered" today.

in my description I obsucred the folder name to hide the domain of our client - hovever the value of "xxxxxxx" is the same for both the registered and installed directories
d:\inetpub\wwwroot\stage.xxxxxxx.com.au\,
d:\inetpub\wwwroot\stage.xxxxxxx.com.au\\.

The only difference I can see is that the "installed " path has an extra \ at the end.

Cheers,
Aaron

Hello Aaron,

The 7.0.0 key generator is different than all the other newer versions. Based on your additional information it's likely we hurt it during our site upgrade. I'm sorry for the trouble and we'll get it sorted out first thing tomorrow morning.

Thanks Mike.

We had 2 keys issued at the same time last year - one for dev and one for live
1 was applied last year & works correctly (the live site).
the second was applied today ( the dev domain ) and does not work.

hope this helps.

If you want any more info (keys etc) contact me at my emails address.

Cheers,
Aaron

I have a good idea what the problem is. Mike is correct, we broke the registration process for the older versions. At one point we had a bug where the installation path was constructed incorrectly, with a double slash at the end. I thought I made the right adjustment for this, but now I see I did it backwards. I will get it corrected shortly.

Logan

Hello Aaron,

You're welcome.

I'd just like to clarify that this SINGLE request is the only transaction to our licensing server. There are no other 'licensing' requests, that could ever possibly interrupt your live store.
Thanks for your support

Hi Mike.

we have tried this key a few times today. I saw that the licensing code was adding a "\\" to then end of the path so I tried removing that with no success.
Our live sites are unaffecteded by this issue.

I am unsure about your second sentance - "There are no other 'licensing' requests, tha..." - This sentance appeares to be a statement rather than a question, so I am unsure how to respond.

Regards,
Aaron

I'm having this error occur now (Nov 15,2010) while installing a license key for 7.0.0. Any chance you rebuilt the key tool and re-introduced this error. Here is what I'm getting (disquised slightly):

The AbleCommerce license is registered for
d:\root\sss\abc.com\wwwroot\, but your installation is installed at
d:\root\sss\abc.com\wwwroot\\.

Please update your license file. For more information about updating your license key,
see the AbleCommerce 7.0 Support Resources.

please help!

Thank you,
marc

It looks like the problem might be the double slash at the end? \\

Hi Judy,

Yes, that is the problem. Mike and Logan are discussing above that the registration process was broken and caused this. Then they fixed it. Now it appears to be broken again.

I do not enter that value myself or I would just leave off the extra '\'. When you enter the license key, it grabs that information from the system and locks the url, path, and key together.

AC Staff - Can you please let me know if the registration process has become broken again and if it will be fixed so I can register my 7.0.0 AC installation.

Thank you,

I have confirmed. I tracked back to find out what happened. Just after this correction was made, we switched source control servers for the code. The correction for the double slash was not checked in properly before the switch. So subsequent updates put the old bug back in for the 7.0.0 store registration.

It will be corrected shortly.

Thank you Logan. That fixed it. The key worked perfectly that time.

Thank you!

And you thank you Judy for trying. You've actually been a help to me many times before when I've dug through the forums for answers and you had helped someone else with the issue I was working through. I do appreciate your commitment to these forums.

And if I had read the posts at the beginning of this topic, I would have seen that the double slash was already discussed!
