Email List notification template

There are two email list signup templates:

• Email List Signup Notification Only, and
• Email List Signup With Verification

For my site, I use the "opt-in with confirmation" rule instead of verification, but the email text being sent was NOT the text specified in the template.

For reference, the email text (with the email list name X'd out) being sent was:

You are receiving this message because you (or someone pretending to be you) has signed up for to receive messages from the list XXXXXXXXX newsletter. If you did not intend to sign up for this list, click the link below to remove your address.

I just noticed that the particular email list had the "default signup message" chosen instead of explicitly setting "Email List Signup Notification Only". I mistakenly assumed that using the confirmation rule meant that the default triggered the "Notification Only" email. Changing the "Signup Email" setting to Notification Only fixed the problem, of course.

But I'm still posting this in case anybody else has the same problem that I did, because I didn't see it described when I searched for it here. Maybe it'll help someone. Happy coding!
