Transaction was deadlocked... again

Post by KiwiSteve » Sat Mar 10, 2012 11:35 pm

I am quite new to AC and found plenty of these in the errorlog:
12:52:27 AM Error Error in user maintenance Transaction (Process ID 81) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.

I have searched the forums and see plenty of people having the same problem, much discussion, no fixes or answers I can find or use.

1. Does this error mean I had a customer whose transaction failed?

2. When it says 'rerun the transaction', how do I do that? I thought that was initiated by the customer? If I can re-run it, how and/or where do I do that?

3. Do I need to keep checking the errorlog for this, or has it been fixed in a later version? If so, can someone please direct me to the correct place, with some step-by-step instructions to follow.

Many thanks for your help

Stephen

It is a SQL Server error having to do with the performance of your site. It has to do with the maintenance routine running and because of the deadlock that is failing and trying to re-run. The maintenance routine doesn't have anything to do with users browsing the site, but if you keep seeing the error, you should investigate with your hoster.
