7.02 launch... Status... Success.
Now, for Google Checkout Update.

1. It seems as though one problem was fixed. Previously, no matter what was purchased from our store, Google Checkout would show ALL shipping options in the store. This is now fixed. Google only shows the relevant option for the product.

2. However... Now, if two items are purchased that have different shipping methods associated with them, Google will not display ANY shipping options, and will not let the sale go through at all. Is this the desired behavior for this situation? It seems like in this situation, if Google can't handle multiple shipping methods per order, that the default assigned to the Google Checkout account would be used. This is not the case, though, and this situation causes Google to halt the order process entirely.

Any ideas for me? I understand that this situation arises because of Google limitations, but, what could we do to allow an order to go through with some kind of default behavior?

Thanks for the help,

Scott

Google Checkout does not support multiple shipments in the API implemented by AC7.

I know that GC does not support multiple shipments, but what I am wondering is whether or not we can make it default to a standard shipping cost whenever this type of situation arises. Right now, GC is just not allowing the order to process at all, and subsequently, we could be losing these orders...

Scott,

If you have a free second can you attempt my example above with multiple warehouses? From my testing it still shows all methods.

How to:

Code: Select all

Two Warehouses - 1 with USPS Options and 2 with a custom rate called Free Shipping.

Product 1 - Warehouse 1 assigned(only usps). Add product to cart - Check out with Google Check out - shows all options inlcuding the free shipping.

The whole attempt at us moving to 7.0.2 was because we were informed this was fixed. What can we do to solve this issue?
Hopefully you only show the correct method. Then I have to figure out why our fresh install of 7.0.2 shows all methods.

Robbie... That already is the setup we are using. We have many, many shipping methods and many warehouses. After the upgrade, only the applicable shipping methods are showing up. Question for you... Are you still running a store with the non-upgraded version? If so, in your Google Checkout settings, you are probably pointing to the old connector file, which you would have to do until the upgrade is actually deployed. Same for us... there was no way to check that google is getting the correct info until after the upgrade is in place. Unless of course, you have the upgraded version running in a public environment, and you re-point the google checkout to use the connector in that location.

I still want to know, though, about getting default shipping behavior to work when Google can't make sense of the multiple methods. Right now, I'm pretty sure we are losing all of our Google transactions as a result.

So did a FRESH 7.0.2 with a FRESH Google Checkout account and I am still getting flat rate shipping where it doesn't belong. Here are screen shots showing what I am doing:

Warehouses:

Shipping Methods:

Google Check Out Settings:

Free Shipping Product Back end:

No Free Shipping Product Back end:

Google Checkout Showing Free Shipping:

Again this is the most basic install. Not one mod has been installed. Can someone else duplicate what I have in my screen shots to see if you face the same issue?

After all these we are considering dropping Google Checkout. I hate to loose that bar displaying in adwords and froogle, but I feel we are being so limited in shipping methods.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So I found something odd. It originally shows free shipping, but then changes after a about two seconds. Werid!

Hmmm sounds like Google presents the entire list first, then polls the store for actual available shipping methods and then trims the list.

If so, that would leave you (still) vulnerable to the lovely timeout issue thus allowing buyers to see all available methods if the store doesn't respond with the shipping quotes fast enough :?

So it seems. My delay seemed much longer then everyone else. I was able to take a screen shot without ever noticing that it was changing.

Has anyone on 7.0.2 been hit with some shipping charges that shouldn't?

We've played with the idea of actually dropping Google Checkout because of the issues it has. I just hate to lose those extra banners on Froogle and our adwords.

I'm no help, 99% of my Google Checkout orders used a flat-rate shipping method which is the cheapest available. So there was never an incorrect choice unless they were a total dork or something....

There is another way.

Disable Google Checkout on all your products. You're not sacrificing the froogle tags you need for marketing and no more google checkout order headaches. Probably take Google a while to notice nothing in your store accepts Google Checkout.........by then a new solution/upgrade can present itself.

Don't give up the google/froogle ad tags though - that's a pretty hefty marketing boost having that little graphic show up imho.
