Military Shipping

Just wondering how others have handled this, as the 'states' (AP, AE, AA) are not listed for customer selection when entering their address. I assume that shipping rates are calculated based on the zip code, so is this as simple as adding in the three with our list of states?

Hello,
I was just wondering if you were able to get this corrected.
I'm new and I didn't realize that the store did not accept the APO addresses until a customer contacted us. Can anyone explain how to add or correct this feature?
Thanks.

Folks,
The cart does accept APO & FPO addresses.
All military mail goes to a Fleet Post Office or an Army Post office in the US and is forwarded to the address.
All mail ships the same as mail in the US. Priority Mail is the best for military mail.
You can put in any state, and city and just add the APO zip code and the postage will
be figured.
Try it with the following: APO AE, 09855, but replace the APO AE with any state and city and use the zip code.
This is the Army PO in the Arab Emirates.
One hint, DO NOT USE THE SMALL GREEN CUSTOMS FORM. There is no way to track the package as our wonderful
PO recycles the numbers. Use the 2976-A form. The order will automatically be insured for a minimum amount.
Hope this helps,
Rick

I have not checked, but is it not possible to add a new 'state' to the list?

Yes, it is. You can go to Configure-->Shipping-->Countries, find the United states and click the link in the provinces column and you can add AP, AE, etc as a new province.
