Hi,
Has anyone integrated AC with 3D Secure? Its an XML based authentication protocol created by Visa/MC.

Can anyone provide commentary on benefits of using it?

One of our clients is asking about it.

Yes, I've just integrated 3D secure using a bespoke RealEx payment gateway - it wasn't fun, but I got there in the end.

3D secure is good - Visa and Mastercard both subscribe to the service - and, if the user does, it means that fraud is removed from the equation - no chargebacks or anything.

You do still have to offer the basic authorisation service for admin-based payments (e.g. phone orders) as well as users with Visa and Mastercards that aren't enrolled, and users using other types of cards - but our client (who uses an existing 3D secure integration) has seen chargebacks all but disappear.
