AbleCommerce Shopping Cart Software

Hello All.

I have a situation where a customer had placed an order which went through with no problems or unusual events. However, after that order was placed, there were three more orders by the same customer but with no product and zero dollars for the total amount.

Other than being entered, none of the orders had been touched in any way but had the following statuses:
Status = Complete
Payment = Paid
Shipment = NonShippable

Our credit card processor did not show any activity other than the initial order.

Any ideas?

Was the original order paid with PayPal?

What build of Able are you on? On the older builds, there was an issue where one of the pieces of data that was passed in the page was too long to be entered into the ac_PageViews table so that was causing problems.

The only time I've ever seen the situation you've described is with PayPal. The Instant Payment Notification (IPN) posts to the AC7 multiple times and results in multiple duplicate empty orders being created.

Something is creating those orders, and there's only so many ways an order can be created. You mention "in-house processing" - do you have customizations on your site and if so, what do they involve?

Interesting question would be if the PayPal listener service is still "enabled" even if PayPal isn't an active payment gateway. In other words, could it be some sort of injection attack against the PayPal listener service URL?

FireFold gets these every so often. Always PayPal.

Solunar: The "in-house processor" is our own credit card server along with a gateway written for AbleCommerce. The store itself is customized all over the place (look and feel, functionality, etc.).

We've had it running that way for over a year now and this is the first time I've seen something like this. It's only happened once (about 4 days ago) and I haven't seen it since (one-glitch?). I'll be keeping an eye on it.


By the way, I was talking with one of my co-workers about AbleCommerce and showed him your site. Judging by his reaction, you may be getting a customer. If you have someone named "Gabe" from Illinois, it's probably him.

That's quite a lot of customization

One-time gremlins seem to find new homes every day. I know I kicked some out just this week with one of my clients.

Thanks for the Illinois referral - hope to hear from him. Solunar.com isn't nearly as modified as yours but it's still my baby. Baby is about to grow up a little as I move closer to migrating to 7.0.2.
