GoogleBase Failing Because of IP Address in URL Attributes

Post by AlanW » Tue May 26, 2009 10:46 am

The GoogleBase feed is using IP instead of URL address for the links. Google won't recognize an IP address in the feed so it is not inserting any items.

Here are examples of the links....
We do not support IP addresses in URL attributes.
link:http://216.82.119.38/detail.aspx?=799
link:http://216.82.119.38/detail.aspx?ID=1193
link:http://216.82.119.38/detail.aspx?ID=677
link:http://216.82.119.38/detail.aspx?ID=1272

and the message from google.....
Outcome: Data feed upload failure
Number of items processed: 801
Number of inserted items: 0

It seems that you have installed your application using IP address that's why your store URL is using your IP information. Go to Administration > Configure > Store and then change store URL to point to your domain name.

Store is configured properly. So I looked at the feed file and all of the URL's are formattted correctly.

Turns out, since we recently went live with AC our previous shopping cart solution was still trying to send a googlebase feed. Since we switched the DNS, it was sending the feed with the IP address.

The AC google feed is working fine. Just needed to shut down the older feed.

Thanks,

Alan
