Setting up a local installation of AbleCommerce

Post by myvo04 » Wed Jun 03, 2009 6:54 am

Hi, I currently have 3 live licenses--one each for development, test and production web sites. However, I need a local installation of AbleCommerce so that I can make custom changes before putting into the development web site. What is the best way to do this? Will I need to purchase another license?

You can install in demo mode, just add demoMode="true" in first line of App_Data/ablecommerce.config file.

I added <demoMode="true" /> into the .config file before running the installation. During the installation, I am asked for a license key. Is this the correct behavior?

Just proceed with one month trial and then when it expires after one month you can renew it for next month and so by visiting install/updatekey.aspx page.

The ability to renew a demo license does not seem to work anymore. I setup a few 7.0.3 stores under my IP addresses to allow some potential customers to try out and configure their store. Like most customers they need more time. I used to be able to renew the demo per the above posts now it doesn't seem to be working. In version 5.5 I was able to run in Demo mode so why can't I do the same in version 7?

When I try to renew the license key it says my domain, which is my IP address, has already been issued a demo license and I have to call to get another key.

Is there any way to get a demo license that is good for any "localhost" address?

It would be a really great addition for all the developers supporting clients on AbleCommerce.
