USPS CANNED TEST FAILED

I'm using a demo copy of ac 7.03 on my localhost.
In integrated carriers, i tried to add to USPS user id (that i just created) and ran usps tests. below is what i'm getting

Error Number : 80040b1a
Error Message : Authorization failure. You are not authorized to connect to this server.

please advice what is the problem here... is usps looking for correct domain name or something or ablecommerce has disabled this feature in demo may be.. ???

I'm stuck at #2 of "register with USPS". The link "run usps tests" give me error below:

I think this is because you have not yet activated your USPS registration. If this is the case contact them to activate it.

ok. that was the case. since run test link was on top and activated checkbox at the bottom, i thought the tests must pass before usps will activate the account for production.

I was able to add USPS (priority,express), UPS (ground,2nd day) and FedEx (saver,overnight) accounts to ablecommerce. I created a test item with 1 lbs weight and 16 x 10 x 8 dimensions. added to cart, estimated the shipping. USPS and UPS did showed up perfectly. But FedEx estimates didn't showed up in test mode = enabled. But it did worked in test mode = disabled. FYI.

I am questioning the usefulness of the canned tests. USPS seems to change the rules for them. Once before the tests changed and we had to update the integration - the integration still worked fine but the tests appeared to fail because the response was not exactly what was expected.

If you get an error on the canned tests, I would not sweat it. Just activate the account. I am going to log a bug request to remove that step from our integration completely.
