processing credit cards offline

Just purchased ablecommerce. We process all our credit cards here at the shop. The numbers are captured and then entered manually here when we are ready to ship. Our old e-commerce software would print the cc# on the hardcopy order which was perfect as all the info is there. With Able commerce it seems that the payment screen is totally separate. So it goes Administration > Orders > View Order #2 > Payments.....now your on a screen and if you want to see the captured credit card# you have to then hit a link that says "show account details" You get the number but there is no order details.....You'd have to print a hard copy of the order and then go back and weed through th screens to get to each individual "account detail" then write it down manually on the order you have already printed....... Isn't there a simpler quicker way then that?

I dont know if there is a way or not to print the credit card number.
But from my own experience. Changing credit card systems might help you as well. Do you have another software you are running the cards on or are you using a manual terminal? If using some software it might be possible to import the order information. If using a manual terminal it might save you a good bit of money to switch to online credit card processing. With that you "authorize" the card when the order is placed, then "Charge" the card when you ship it.

We process all cards manually through our terminal here. I live in a small town and it is with the only bank that is here..so that has always been one factor...I honestly have not really looked at rates much. My credit card processor has a very convoluted pricing system. There are 10 different price structures I could get charged. It depends on the type of card my customer uses. About 1/3 of my cards I pay 2.30% +.10 a transaction. another 1/3 is 1.75% + .20 a transaction....the rest is all over the place the lowest is 1.64% the highest 2.95%.....how does that stack up against what others are paying?

I have used 2 different system. I used to use a online "gateway" They charges fee's Then there was a bank "Payment Processor" Who charged another more confusing fee's. You need to add these together to see your total.
I am currently using Paypal's Website Paymet Pro
There fee's depend on your monthly sales. as low as 2.2% +$0.30
But with this that fee is the only fee you get.

The challenge is being PCI compliant. There are pretty strict regulations on where you can store credit card info. The locations that can store the data need to be physically locked down. The the data needs to be encrypted. The backups of the db. Need to be controlled. I'm 99% sure that AC can't store the credit card data internally and be PCI compliant. I can't even go into the management interfaces to get CC info. They just show the last 4. Hope this helps.

We can store the information as needed for business purposes, provided that we encrypt the data using approved cryptography and provide the ability to manage keys. We also have to maintain an audit log for every time the full card details are viewed.
But with card storage and SSL both enabled, you should be able to view the full card details for a transaction.
To the original poster, through AbleCommerce out of the box there is not a simpler way to view the order with the card details all in one spot. It is surely something that could be customized.

On a trial account, I have noticed the exact same issue as the original poster.
I have found AC is very weak when it comes to default printed invoices.
1) It doesn't show the email address, phone numbers, customer comments, etc. on either bill to or to ship to.
2) Our accounting department runs a separate program and having the credit card type, number, and expiration date printed on the invoice is crucial.
I have resolved issue number 1, but I think issue number 2 might be the game killer...

Is it possible to import data in too the accounting software? Printing full CC info is not a good idea.

Hello,
Please advise how can I view the full card details via Admin?
We we need setup a subscription / recurring payment, but our payment gateway doesn't support this. However, it does support manually setting up a scheduled payment, which would work for us.
The problem is, we need the customer CC number when they make the initial payment via our website (AC).
We have storage and SSL enabled... how can I go in via the Admin interface and pull out the CC number on an order? We don't need to AVS / CVV...
I would really appreciate some help with this!
Thanks,
Mark
