Hi,
We're looking at AC 7 as our shopping cart software.
In regard to the drop ship feature. I understand it is written for us to be able to drop ship from our vendors which is great.
However, we will have several clients that want us to drop ship for them. Using the API and other utilities is it possible to for my programmer to reverse the drop ship process?
Thanks,
Leonard
Drop Ship Functionality
Re: Drop Ship Functionality
Leonard,
Drop shipping is more a procedure in your business than it is a function within the software. If your customers want to place orders but ship to an alternate address, that certainly is possible when they place their orders. Practically all systems (including AC7) support shipping to a different address than the billing address.
If you are wanting to have both drop-shipPED and inventory'd stock to sell, that's a different situation. That's a multiple-warehouse function, not drop-ship function. In AC7, only 1 warehouse can be assigned to any given store product. So you could only have one point of origin for the product. If you wanted the product to be able to be sold out of different warehouses, you would have to set the product up multiple times with each one having a different warehouse assignment. Then you would set the warehouse address to the be whatever vendor you dropship from. The shipping estimator(s) will use that address for the point-of-origin when computing shipping rates.
