Authorize.Net down July 3 2009

Post by AbleMods » Fri Jul 03, 2009 8:51 am

Anyone else seeing same thing?

I can't hit their website, I'm finding other posts online saying nobody can reach them on the phone.

Apparently happened around midnight Pacific time.

I can't authorize, can't capture, nothing :(

This happened at Fisher Plaza in Seattle, which happens to be one of the major data centers for the PacNW. Warmoth happens to have our live servers co-located there through adhost.com. Our site has been down since 11PM last night. We selected them because of their fault tolerance and multiple redundant trunks, generators, etc.... Whatever happened must have been pretty spectacular.

We have systems monitoring on our servers and I'm getting intermittent emails from our servers reporting net outages. For us, I can at least tell our servers are OK but there are other problems in the building.

To top it off, I upgraded our internal development server to 7.0.3 last night. We haven't finished putting all of our customizations back yet, so the site is a bit funky. Needless to say, ownership and staff are a bit stressed this morning.

Our Verizon DSL circuit in Redmond was down this morning because of the fire but it is now back up. The service has returned back to normal for us.

Interesting account on how Redfin.com prepared for the outage.
