BUG: Adding new shipment produces blank shipping method

Since I didn't get a response to this post (viewtopic.php?f=42&t=12068), I investigated further and discovered a bug in 7.0.2.

I have two shipping methods: Express and Standard. After the order is placed, I want to change the shipping method from one to the other. You can add a generic line item but then you have to fill in everything yourself.

So here's what I tried (example is Standard to Express):
  • Add a new shipment with the new shipping method.
  • Merge the old shipment items into the new shipment.
  • Delete the old shipment.
The first problem is that there isn't any option to calculate this shipping charge automatically. How would I do that?

The second problem is that even though the new shipment says Express Shipping on the Edit Shipment screen, if you edit the shipment, you see it only added a blank line item for the manual amount you entered for the new shipment.

The screenshots below show the issues. Can you provide a fix or workaround for these problems?

This isn't a bug. AC 7.0.2 simply doesn't fully support a change in shipment method after the order is placed. You have to manually edit the order items to adjust both the name and amount of the shipping charge.

Upgrade to 7.0.3 - changing shipping methods post-checkout is fully supported.

Thank you for the answer and a reason to upgrade to 7.0.3. In your opinion, is 7.0.3 stable enough now? There were a number of bugs in some basic features that I really don't have time to worry about (or that my customer has money to pay for fixing). Does AC update the 7.0.3 upgrade files to incorporate all known fixes or do I have to apply them one by one after the upgrade?

Thanks.

There are still some outstanding bugs however most have some sort of workaround. The problem is those workarounds can get buried in the forums and not always easy to find.

The major bugs (that I'm aware of) have updates released to resolve them. I'm not sure the marketing feeds bug is fixed yet or not - Able may have attached that fix to the bug report. I believe the AC7 updates page details what fixes are available. Able usually releases them independently so you'll have multiple fixes to download and install after your upgrade is complete.

Able will always incorporate all previous fixes in the next version, so upgrading to 7.0.4 almost always gets you all the fixes in 7.0.3 plus what's new in 7.0.4 etc.

I'm sure Able could point you towards the current bug status list if you want a complete survey of what remains to be fixed in 7.0.3.

I wish AC would invest in a technical writer / documentation specialist / other person to provide the necessary lists for users to find things. Perhaps such lists exist, but burying that information in the forums is bad business practice. I'd love to see a new forum and sub-forums that were closed to general user posts but that listed each version and all of it's updates, fixes, etc. Since the wiki and help sites are scorned by all, putting this information in some central forums would be a huge step in the right direction.

Thanks as always for the information.

The Latest News section of your store dashboard has some useful links. I agree the information could be consolidated better. But there's a lot to digest nowadays - AC7 is an enormous application. Then you throw on the fact previous versions also have some active development going and the water gets real murky.
