Manual Order Placement option needed
We have noticed a major hole in the functionality of the Able system.
As far as I know, there is no way to manually create an order without regard for system information.
Sometimes we need to be able to insert an order into our system which may have items that are listed as out of stock, or where information in the order prevents our address verification system from allowing the order. With this type of order, we can deal with the special cases, but we have no way to put the information into the system.
Is there something we can do to allow certain user groups to place orders without regard for requirements imposed by the Able system?

Can add out of stock products after the order is created. In "Order Summary" click "Edit Order Items" Add product button, this module ignores QOH.

That method solves the problem of having to make a product back in stock to add it(which alerts anyone on the alert list that it is back in stock). A problem that it doesnt solve is the order confirmation email which the customer receives after an order is placed. When our sales guy places an order this way, he will still have to use his own email address and defer payment, then add the items to the order, change the email back, and resend an order confirmation.
A simpler solution if possible would be the ability to manually create the order with any items, and include a checkbox with the submit button to toggle email confirmations.

Are you running a pre 7.0.3 version?

In 7.0.3 the place order feature is overhauled from prior versions. You can create orders for items that are out of stock - I tried it myself.William_firefold wrote:That method solves the problem of having to make a product back in stock to add it(which alerts anyone on the alert list that it is back in stock).
I am not sure about the address verification comment you made... can you elaborate on that point?

Re: Manual Order Placement option needed
there was an address, and i cant remember where at the moment, that we needed to ship an order to. For some reason, our shipping software wouldnt pull the shipping cost. We were going to manually enter the shipping cost but the order wouldnt go to the next step without a shipping method, and we couldnt pick a method, so the order couldnt be placed. I may be a bit unclear on the process we went through, but i remember it wasnt letting us place it.
Maybe this works better in 7.0.3, I will ask the CSR when she returns.

What about manually setting the price while placing orders through admin?
Is that even possible?
I cant think of a good way to do it so simply:
Just add the item, set its qty and price, then move on.

It's possible but only after the fact. I have logged a bug request to see if we can make price an editable field prior to the order being placed.
