zero dollars order email, special case

Hello,

We have an able commerce store and the Order notification email is send on order placed trigger. We have an special case in which the shopping cart has only one item and we provide a free shipping therefore the total amount of the order is zero.

In this case the order notfiication email is not being sent and we need the email to be sent, from what I've been reading in the forums there is logic on the shopping cart so the orders with a total amount of zero doesn't get placed, is it right?

Is there a way to configure the shopping cart to always send the notification email?

just for the records....

I found what was happening, Looks like the order needs a payment method to send the email. We were not adding credit card info because the amount was zero, so I am adding a cash payment of zero dollars and then the email gets send.

There is a setting to specify order minimum amount under Administration > Configure > Store page, if you specify some minimum amount there then user won't be able to make checkout until order total crosses that minimum amount. So I don't think so that you have turned on that settings because you are able to place order. Store should send Email with 0 order total. Did you made any change to Order Confirmation Email template?

I know this is an old thread but I'm having this same problem with 7.0.7. No Customer Order Notification is being sent for orders with a $0 total. I am able to manually trigger the email to go out by going to the Order Summary page through the admin interface, clicking on the users email address, selecting Customer Order Notification, clicking Preview and Send, and then clicking send. So, it's not a problem with the Customer Order Notification template. I don't have a value set for Minimum Order Amount under Configure -> Store.

I appreciate any ideas to get this resolved!
