Hi,

I get that product templates allow me to structure data which is then displayed in a common format, this is great.

However this does not seem searchable. Is there a way for to make this searchable.

Even better it woul be great if it could be used as a critera in the search refinement.

Store search doesn't take care of product templates. You can create your custom search or listing component that can show products depending upon product template selections. Have a look at following thread
