Coupon Uses per customer

If I input "1" for coupon uses per customer, does that reset in a new shopping session? Or, is the coupon restricted to one use for the entire lifetime of that user email account? Thanks!

For users having Email account yes it will span over the life time of coupon and they will not be able to apply it again.
