Page Layout

Is there a way to set the active layout, header, left column, etc globally, or do you have to do it on a page by page basis?
Sign into your Admin. Go to your store front (click Store icon).
At the bottom of the page select "Edit Page" from the drop down.
You have to select the Active Layout, Header, Sidebar, etc for that page.
Do this for all your pages, ex: Home page, Category page, Product page, Contact, Cart, etc.
