Deleting a Category - Not everything within it

Is there no way to delete a category and just causing all of it's contents to drop that category mapping instead of deleting everything within that category?

I have some products that are universal to alot of my categories, I have them mapped as such, to 20-40 categories. I want to delete one of the categories, but the function deletes all of the products that are mapped to it, even though they are mapped elsewhere.

Is there a way to go about deleting a category without doing anything to the contents and with the category now gone, I assume the products that were in the category would/should drop the mapping to the category but retain all of its' other category mappings.

Seems like you are using an old build, what is your application version? I am unable to reproduce it on my local install of 7.0.3.

Thanks Mazhar,

I hadn't thought to test the functionality as the popup still indicated something along the lines of "delete this category and all of it's contents"

I did just test with some test categories and products and it is working as you indicated. Thanks again.

Right there with ya - scares the crap outa me every time I see it.

Mazhar, any chance you could post an enhancement request to have that message clarified or reworded? It's pretty misleading when dealing with a category of products that are assigned to other categories as well.
