Assign carrier to flat shipping rates

Assign carrier to flat shipping rates

I use a flat shipping rate, and all items are either shipped via UPS or FedEx for the most part. How would I assign a carrier to the tracking number when I am using flat shipping rates? That way I am thinking they would be able to click on the number in the email to track the package like I was using integrated carrier shipping.
