Hi,
I am just setting up some of the shipping methods, which are all based on weight.
Some items are large and therefore would have to be shipped seperate, therefore i have marked 2 products as "seperate" in the shippable field. When i select these 2 products, the cart and checkout still groups them together by weight and then just charges the 1 shipment charge based on the total weight.
Is there some other admin setting that i need to select to "switch on" this option?
My methods are simply by sevice, such as 10:00, 12:00, next day etc, and each of these are based on 3 different weight catagories.
I am running 7.0.4 with all hotfixes apart from USPS (as we are based in the UK)
Thanks
Andrew
Seperate shippable items
Re: Seperate shippable items
In order to create separate shipping automatically you need to assign them in different warehouses.
Re: Seperate shippable items
Thanks for the reply Mazhar.
Can i just check with you that i am understanding this right...
Because some of the items will be large, they will warrant 1 package alone, so if someone orders two items which includes a large item, this would involve 2 parcels/packages. As shipping firms charge "per parcel", we would need to factor this in. So, i guess it is not exactly two shipments, but 1 shipment requiring 2 parcels, and therefore 2 charges.
Is this different to what i am trying to complete with the shippable field, and also your suggestion of warehouses?
I think to get the business of the ground, they are going to make it very simple, and end up with a structure based on total price. They are going to set a standard fee for orders under a certain amount, with free delivery for over that amount, and accept that some they will win and some they will lose. Obviously going forward, if we want to try to capture a more accurate shipping charge, we will need to factor in the ones that will require multiple parcels, even though they will be on the same shipment.
Thanks
Andrew
