Cant Install

I am trying to select a platform..so far ablecommerce is the ONLY .net platform which seems to be a right pain to install. Even following the step by step instructions.

Following the step by step instruction gives us the following when trying to browse to the install folder to actually kick off the install
http://localhost/ablecrap/install/default.aspx -> redirects to http://localhost/ablecrap/login.aspx showing the following.

any ideas??? -> followed the win XP pro step by step instructions on this forum, also didn't work.

We were using aspnetstorefront and someone recommended us to install and consider purchasing ablecommerce....why is it the only solution which doesn't install itself well?

What version of AbleCommerce you are trying to install? When you purchased the product? Have you a valid license key available or this is a demo install? Could you provide the help link here which you followed for install procedure?

I had given up on AbleCommerce and decided to move with AspDotNetStoreFront.

But your customer support emailed me and 'sold me the dream'...so just before I purchase my AspDotNet code (today), i'm going to give AbleCommerce ONE MORE SHOT.

Right i'm installing the most recent version (as of today's date) - AC74_B13424.

Problem 1) duplicate web.config entries...comment a few out and it then runs.
Problem 2) constantly redirected away from the install screen to the 'you dont have a working license screen'. (as stated in my original post).

If someone tells me the solution, and it works, I can then try the trial version..and if it is indeed cleaner code than ASPDOTNETSTOREFRONT..i'm buying it.

But right now, without sounding like an idiot end user ( ) -> the @#$@# thing wont even install...who even needs step by step instructions these days! its .NET !!

I can't find the link for the installation i was using, but it wasn't rocket science at all...i only followed it in the case there was something out of the norm...but there wasn't -> it was exactly the same as the able commerce manual, except it was directed for windows XP (which ablecommerce don't endorse)....

If I can't get the trial version running on my local machine (XP) then AbleCommerce is on the back burner..and I dont see why it shouldn't run on XP (i dont think this is an XP related issue anyway).

There are thousands of stores setup by merchants with no great technical background and we haven't heard of such problems before. Setting up AbleCommerce is is pretty simple if you follow the installation instructions. Normally one could get through the installation without reading everything carefully but if you are facing a problem then you should look at the instructions more carefully.

We haven't had this reported before. Could you please share the duplicate entries you are talking about? One doesn't need to fiddle with the web.config in order to get AbleCommerce installed. Are you trying to achieve something that you haven't mentioned in your post?

It can't happen on the install page in a clean installation. If you have previously tried something and your App_Data/CommerceBuilder.lic file has invalid data then this can happen. On a new clean install you can't get this error. Moreover when one is redirected to the license page one can always chose to install a demo license. It requires nothing on your part. If you are installing AbleCommerce for evaluation you could just chose the demo license and forget about licensing concerns.

I am not sure if you are following the installations instructions or not. If you are it would be helpful if you mention what steps have you done and at which step the problem occurs. Make sure you have a clean empty directory where you extract AbleCommerce and make sure you set it up correctly in IIS.

Does your Able install folder have another .net application in it? That could be causing the web.config problem because of inheritance.
