Product Finder Crash after update. "FTS.Rank" error

Hello:

I just ran the update patches for V7.04 with "Full text searching" enable. It looks fine as searching was doing very well. But a customer email me this morning and said that the "Product Finder" on the main page will cause a crash. I tried it and confirm that.

Then, I disabled the "Full text searching" but doing so end up that the 'Search' function crash!

I got reply from my hosting support and they said that it's either missing database schema or somehow fields missing.

Please help if anyone know how to fix the problem!

Thanks
Speedy

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The multi-part identifier "FTS.Rank" could not be bound.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: The multi-part identifier "FTS.Rank" could not be bound.

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:

<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:

2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

I believe that the website you are talking about is:

http://www.lightobject.com

Can you please repeat the steps that how we can reproduce the issue? Also Can you please mention that which version of MS SQL Server you are using? SQL Server 2000 or 2005?

I just disable the "Full Text Searching" so that it's working now. But once I enabled it (will do it right after this message) and when you click the "Product Finder" the tag next to the 'Home" on the maing page, it crash. My site is: http://www.lightobject.com

I believe It's MS SQL 2008.

I though that it may be caused by any "orphaned items" or item that set to "Hidden", so I did all clean up and deleted all those hidden items. I also ran the "rebuilt Index" but the problem still exits.

FYI, before I ran the update, I found that there a minor issue on my product catalog. Some items I added just couldn't appeared when clicking the Left Menu Catlogy button, unless I did sorting like "Z to A" or by Manufacturer. As long as I keep the default, a few items just couldn't show up on screen. May be it's a hint why the Full Text Searching crashed.

Thanks for your help

Speedy

Hello,

We have confirmed this issue in the ConLib/SearchPage.ascx.cs file distributed with AC704_SP1_13936.zip patch dated 6/14/10.

To immediately correct this issue, you can open the ConLib/SearchPage.ascx.cs and make the following change:

FROM:

Code: Select all

SortResults.Items.Insert(0, new ListItem("By Relevance", "FTS.Rank DESC"));
TO:

Code: Select all

SortResults.Items.Insert(0, new ListItem("By Relevance", "FTS.RANK DESC"));
Note that the only difference is the case of "Rank" changed to "RANK". At this time, we are still not certain where the issue originated.
An updated patch will be available later today.

Thank you,
Katie

Sorry for the dumb question, I'm still struggling with the process flow for maintenance in this system that's still new to us:

Is there some kind of "official" patch for this issue (patched file) or at least an issue tracking number that I can refer to in case there is no separate patch released? We have not run into the problem so far but I'd like to keep our code base as fully patched as possible since we are now in the main phase of customizing a lot of the code. Having to go back later and account for missing patches is such a waste of time.

Looking at the HotPatches list for 7.0.4 on http://help.ablecommerce.com I couldn't find anything about this fix. Am I looking in the wrong spot again?

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give.
