Hi,
We are working with a company to host their products on our site. We also have our own product line we warehouse and ship. Given they will maintain all control of all customer interactions we would like sales of their products to get authorized via their merchant account. We would want our product sales to get authorized through our merchant account. It is possible customers may order items from both companies in one order.
Is this possible? If not (thinking not.. ) is there another way to accomplish this? The reason we prefer a separate auth. account is so that they take on the associated order liabilities such as fraud, etc.
Thanks
Barb

Hello,
You can configure separate Payment Methods and assign each method to a separate Gateway, but you can not have two instances of the same payment gateway . For instance
if you have two Merchant Accounts with Authorize.Net Gateway it is not currently possible to have two separate Authorize.Net Gateways configured in AbleCommerce. You can configure
however one merchant account with Authorize.Net and another with Linkpoint.
Another issue is that the product object does not have Payment Gateway property. It is not possible to assign product/category to a gateway instance.

Hi,
Thanks for that information. I know there is a creative solution out there somewhere.. Just don't know what it is.

Mike is correct in saying that you cannot have two instances of the same gateway. You can get the gateway source code, rename and recompile the class and then have a different gateway in the admin that would be a clone of the default one, but you would be able to configure the merchant info differently.
But you would still have the problem of splitting an order depending on what kind of product and I don't know that you could even do that. Even if you could, the customer would wonder what is going on because he would see two charges on his account from two different companies. Try winning a chargeback with that one - bad news.
