License Keys Not Attached to Domain Names?

  Ok, I have to say I am a little upset at the moment. I am moving from one server to another....copied the license files and..."This license key has already been installed. To complete a reinstall contact AbleCommerce for further assistance."??? Umm, what is going on here? Doesnt it stand to reason that a license key is attached to a domain name, so what if I reinstall it 500 times??

Imagive you go buy a car, start it up, purchase it, then park it in the driveway. Go out the next morning to head to work...oh no!...I already used that key once, even thought its in my same driveway and obvioulsy can't park it in two driveways at the same time. This just is making no sense to me. ATTACH IT TO THE DOMAIN NAME PEOPLE!! If people are going to steal your stuff then they are going to steal it no matter what you do...dont takeit out on the people that pay for it!

Can anyone give me any info here on where the total stupidity of this came from? I need to get this done over the weekend and its not looking good.

You need to go to your account at Able and ask for the key to be re-set.
I also wondered what prompted the change and Able said they had one person with one license use it for around 20 stores in subdomains, like www.mysite.com/store 1, etc.
It's like all the other irritations for us, like PCI compliance- people who are honest have to suffer for people who aren't.

Ok, so configure the store licensing feature to recognize a subdomain/directory. It is possible. This is just unacceptable. If someone is using the license in violation (one person as you stated), have them penalize. Even if 100 people were doing it, this just isnt right. They didnt go about it the right way, and if the time was actually spent to do it properly with subdomains or directories then we wouldnt be having this issue. My license is for my domain...isnt in violation of the licensing agreement that I cant use my license I paid for and have to wait around till they get back to me, what if I had to do an immediate reinstall because of some file corruption on a high traffic site of a large customer?? As a provider of the "best" .Net store on the market, they just took it down a few notches by doing this.... and after working so hard to make AC it what it is, youd think that would have crossed someones mind.
